Musky Mania 67, June 2022 - Musky Mania Farewell
Well, all good things must come to an end and, after 35 years - June 1987 to June 2022 - Musky Mania is history. MM67 was the farewell outing held once again at Cody’s Point of Lake Resort, old Twin Lakes Resort. Thanks to our hosts, Genevieve and Darren from Coadys’ Point of View.

Musky Mania 67 Winners
MM67 ended with a bang as the winning fish was 50 ¾” and only the second 50”er caught in 35 years. Congratulations to Matt Reiter Jr. for catching the winner fish. Scott Williams took 2nd with a 40 ¼” fish, Mark Koenig took 3rd with a 34” fish and Paul and David Koenig both caught 22” fish.
The weather was perfect with little wind and partly cloudy. Musky Mania organizer, Musky Pete, had one follow about 35” on Saturday and his partner Mark Melius had one follow on Sunday in the mid 30” range. |
Everyone won a door prize on Saturday at lunch with Spanish Hamburgers, beans, potato salad, chips, and homemade deserts. Thanks to Gary Borkowski for suppling the roadkill. A collection for lunch for Musky Pete’s wife Kathy brought in some money to replenish her grocery money and all the work she put into making lunch. Former owner of Twin Lakes Resort, Tom Hickson, showed up for lunch to see all us old timers. Glad to see him again.
Everyone got a MM67 printed towel. Musky Pete’s custom-made rod was won by Greg Friedrich. 32 fisher persons attended MM67. We had our usual Friday night cookout by Cabin #4. Mark and I stopped at the Dublin Pub, old Huttenbar, for a “smoothie” (old Fashion) to honor my long-time fishing partner Gary Winters, who passed away just before MM50.
Some guys were talking about continuing the Musky Mania tradition, but it will likely have to be an informal outing with no lunch, door prizes, plaque, vest, or raffle and people make their own arrangements at the resort. Let Alain know your thoughts on this, and he can e-mail the MM distribution list if anything gets set up for a fall outing.
Well, Musky Mania was a great bunch of guys to fish with and a great ride, but it is time to move on. Be safe and tight lines!
