Musky Mania 41, June 2008
Tournament Winners

Well, MM41 is in the books and will go down as one tough bite. Tough fishing but 7 fish were caught so Mr. Musky did not win. Fishing started out Wednesday by some, Thursday and Friday by others and very few fish were seen so we figured it might be a tough time getting fish. Water temperature was a little low in the low to mid 50’s with some of the fish just finishing up spawning.
Had a great cookout on Friday evening and a swap meet where folks sold some of their prize musky baits. Musky Pete even sold some his tried and proven PeterTails to be used another day. The MM organizers purchased the two Beckman nets from Mike Reiter at the swap meet to be used for future raffle prizes. Lots of steaks grilling and a few suds being consumed which set the stage for an early Saturday morning fishing excursion by all. Saturday morning saw NO fish caught on North & South Twin although several fish were seen by the 32 participants. One fish was lost at the boat by newcomer John Reynders which gave some hope that Twin could possibly produce a fish or two for this MM. Thanks to Musky Pete’s wife Kathy for the Spanish hamburger and Gary Borkowski for the potato salad along with all the rest of the goodies everyone was full for the afternoon hunt. Everyone won a door prize and Gary Winters won the custom made musky rod by “Musky Pete” to top off the raffle with John Reynders winning the Abu Garcia Record reel. Due to the hot action on Saturday morning (NOT) most everyone left Twin for the afternoon searching out better water. Some folks fished Irving, Sand, Kentuck, Eagle Chain, Boot and a variety of other lakes in the area trying to find the first fish for the board. As it turned out all 7-- MM41 fish were caught on Saturday afternoon. |
The biggest fish of MM41 was caught by John Reynders fishing with his partner Mike Reiter on South Twin. The 40” fish hit a baby depth raider to win MM41. No fish were caught on Sunday morning however the fishing conditions were much better than the previous day even though it was 37 degrees in the morning. We want to thank those who showed up for the awards ceremony to recognize participants who placed as well as those who coordinated this event, thanks. A summary of MM41 fish is as follows.
MM42 is set for October 11 & 12 so mark your calendars and get your permission slip signed early. Lots of the cabins are filled already so if you plan on going make sure you contact Gordie Shaw or Gary Borkowski to reserve a cabin. We have options on additional cabins so get on the list early if you are planning on attending the event. Hopefully the fall outing will provide a better bite than last weekend and the big fish will be on the move. I have included what we currently have down for cabins so if this is not right let me know ASAP.
See many of you at MM43 on May 30 & 31st, 2009.
