Musky Mania 62, June 2019
Well folks, Musky Mania 62 is in the books and it was a bit challenging. Twenty-three people participated and only 3 fish were caught. The water temperature was low at 58-61 degrees, but Mr. Musky did not win!

Saturday dawned with cool temps and low winds so a great day for fishing. Musky Pete and Mark Melius fished South Twin and raised a nice fish about 40" on a white bucktail near the dam. There was a 3' weed on the bait so no action from the fish. Later that day Dave Koening caught his winning fish in the same area on a white bucktail.
By noon on Saturday there was only one fish on the board, Bork's 26". Gordie’s wife prepared a great lunch of sloppy Joes and beans for us. As usual we had our raffle and door prizes and a lot of guys headed to different lakes after lunch. A special thanks to our sponsors and to our hosts Genevieve and Darren from Coadys’ Point of View Lake Resort, formerly North Twin Lodge. |
About Coady's POV, a lot of changes were made since the new owners took over. Visit their website or come check it out!
The winds picked up around 5 pm and there were some big rollers on North Twin. Musky Pete and Mark Melius fished till 7pm and called it quits for the day. John Reynders showed up in the rec room at around 9pm in full musky gear while Tim and Alain were watching hockey, recovering from a memorable bass catching expedition on Big Sand.
Sunday, Tim and Alain decided not to fish to avoid tarnishing the memory of Saturday’s bass expedition, but Musky Pete and Mark Melius fished South Twin again. The winds picked up again about 8 am and Mark missed a small musky about 24" on a twitch bait. They fished the weeds in front of the lodge before quitting and by the island had a fish come up and hit on a sliver Slammer. Under the boat it went, and Mark had the net ready in 10 seconds. Battle done in 45 secs. 35 ½" on the board and a nice Tiger.
MM63 will be the held one week earlier this year, Oct. the 19th and 20th (to be confirmed), still at Coadys’ Point of View Lake Resort. Hopefully we will not have 5" of snow this year. Thanks again to all who attended and making MM62 a success and all have a great rest of 2019.
