Musky Mania 61, October 2018
Well folks, Musky Mania 61 is in the books and, needless to say, it was a bit challenging. Strong winds, cold temps, and a beautiful couple of inches of snow greeted us on Saturday. But the elements did not curtail the MM folks from chasing Mr. Musky and the best thing is Mr. Musky did not win.

Saturday saw fish catching a bit slow, but Matt Reiter came through with a beautiful fat 45 ½ in fish caught on North Twin on a Stalker jerk bait. Sunday saw weather conditions a bit less challenging; still a bit windy and cold, but the folks hit the water with greater optimism and managed three more fish and several other fish lost or sighted.
John Reynders boated a fat 39 incher on North Twin on, what else, a Suick. Scott Williams came through with a nice 32 incher also caught on North Twin on a Suick. A special congrats to Scott as I understand this was his first musky and an exciting catch as it hit on a figure 8, way to go Scott. Of course, Gary and I had to fish “Secret Lake” and the Musky gods came through for yours truly and we boated a very heavy 46 ½ incher on a sucker. |
John and Matt fished after the wrap-up on Sunday and John boated a 38 ½ incher on South Twin. Gary, Bill Reschel, and I stayed on and fished Monday on “Secret Lake” and I boated a 38 incher on a sucker, the only action of the day. We fished Tuesday morning; Gary and I on Deerskin and Bill on Twin, but no action.
We had a great lunch on Saturday and some great door and raffle prizes. A special thanks to our sponsors, Mark Melius for his bucktail and sucker rig, Musky Pete for the rod, our new hosts Genieveve and Darren Coady for the two-night stay, and Alain (www.alcowebdesign.com) for his great work on the website.
A big thank you to our new hosts, Genieveve and Darren Coady who did a great job in making sure our activities came off with no major issues considering they were just transitioning over from Marti and Jen. Just an FYI, the lodge has a new name; Coady’s Point of View Lake Resort and they have a website under that name (www.povresort.com).
Thanks again to all who attended and making MM61 a success and all have a great rest of 2018.
