MM42 will go down as one of the nicest weather events of recent years. With light winds, warm Indian summer temperatures the fishing conditions could not have been better… Except the muskies were not real active with this type weather.
A total of 4 fish were caught during MM42 with the winning fish being caught by Corey Earl Saturday on Deerskin. The 39 ½” fish was caught on a Double D. Second and Third place fish were caught on Sunday with Greg Friedrich catching a 37 ¾” fish on Pioneer also on a Double D and Tom Mijal catching a 35” fish on Boot Lake on a bucktail. The only other fish caught was registered by John Reynders with a 25” fish from Kentuck. Several fish were caught pre-fishing but as the weather warmed the fish bite seemed to slow down. Some of the fish caught during pre-fishing were as follows; Rick Kamps with a 46” fish, Corey Earl with a 37 ½”, Gary Winters with a 39” fish, Gary Borkowski with a 38” and 32” fish. The Friday evening cookout was super with the weather cooperating for a good time by all. Steaks, ribs, burgers, brats and other tasty morsels were cooked by participants. |
Saturday lunch was served up in the (North Twin Lodge) rec room where build your own sandwiches and chili with all the rest of the goodies was consumed in mass quantities.
Tight lines, big fish and practice CPR (Catch Photograph and Release) to live and be caught another day. The best of the fall musky season is yet to come, get out there and enjoy our fishery. The “Good Ol Days” of Musky fishing are NOW. See many of you at MM43 on May 30 & 31st, 2009.
