Musky Mania 54, May 2017
Tournament Winners
|
Another Musky Mania is in the books with a total of four fish registered during the outing.
MM54 kicked off with the Friday night cookout and in spite of the soggy weather, it was a good time. As usual, some nice fish were caught prior to MM54 fishing time. Jimmy Jessup took top honors with a beautiful, heavy 47 incher caught on North Twin on Friday and his fishing partner, Musky Pete boating a 38 incher. With these two fish caught on Twin, anticipation was high for good success on Twin for the outing. Mother Nature provided a cold front that appeared to slow fish action, guess we have to blame it on something, but the first two fish registered came off of South Twin. The first place fish was caught by Corey Earl, a 39 ¾ incher caught on Pioneer on a “Godzilla”; he’s probably the only one with that bait. Second place went to Nicole Beyer, a beautiful 39 incher caught on South Twin on a bucktail. This was her first Musky Mania and her first musky and fishing with her dad and the net man, what a memorable experience, congratulations to Nicole. Third place went to Greg Freidrich with a 38 ½ incher also caught on Pioneer on a secret bait. Congratulations to all the winners. |
Just a point of interest, Gary and I think we discovered the new hot bait. Monday evening one of the guys staying in cabin 7 caught a 39 inch musky off the dock with a jig and a dead leech, there is no justice!
A big thanks to Gary Borkowski for a great lunch. Also, a big thanks to Marti and Jen (North Twin Lodge) for their hospitality and their donation of a two night stay as a prize. Thanks to all who provided support for prizes. Thanks again to Alain (Alco Web Design) for all his work/maintaining the website.
With that said, we indicated at the winner wrap up on Sunday that there is a need to increase the registration fee from $20 to $25 to help better cover the lunch food costs and to continue to provide door/raffle prizes, especially since we are getting less and less support every year. So beginning with MM55, the registration fee will be $25/person.
Mark your calendars, MM55 will be held on October 10th and 11th. MM55 will be another Musky Mania milestone, we are looking at ways to commemorate, please send any ideas you might have to me. There is cabin space available and there is possible for additional. Thanks to all for attending MM54 and looking forward to seeing folks at MM55.
