Musky Mania 51, October 2013
Tournament Winners
|
Another Musky Mania is in the books with MM 51 being held on October 12 and 13th. Overall the weather was pretty cooperative, a bit breezy on Saturday, but certainly fishable. Unfortunately, the fish were not very cooperative with a total of three fish caught during the outing all being caught on Saturday. The good thing is Mr. Musky did not win.
The first place fish was caught by Mark Melius, a 33 ¼ incher caught on North Twin, it’s been awhile since a first place fish was caught on Twin. The second place fish was caught by Jeff Heinen, a 32 ½ incher caught on Ballard and the third place fish was caught by Greg Freidrich, a 26 ½ incher caught on Boot. Congrats to all the winners. Unfortunately Jeff was not able to attend the wrap up on Sunday and as the by-laws state; you need to attend the wrap-up to collect your money if you have a money fish. With that, Greg Freidrich ended up getting the 2nd place monies and the 3rd place monies were drawn for with the people attending the wrap-up. The lucky winner was James Jones, alias Jeff Clark! |
MM51 kicked off Friday night with the usual cookout, Mother Nature was good to us and we enjoyed good weather and socializing. We had a good lunch on Saturday, followed by the raffle and door prize drawings.
Thanks again to all our supporters for the items they provide for the prize drawings. A special thanks to Dean Charlier and L & S Electric for the two $50 gift certificates to Gander Mountain one of which we used as a raffle prize for MM51 and the second we will use for a raffle prize for MM52.
Prior to Saturday’s fishing, a number of good fish were caught on Friday. Corey, Greg, Dave, and Rick made a stop on the Bay on the way up and it played off very well with Corey catching a 45 incher and Rick catching a 49 incher, beautiful fish. Corey and Greg also had a good rest of the day on Friday, boating 5 fish, with Greg catching a dandy 45 incher. It looked like the sucker bite had kicked in when Gary and I had two fish take suckers on Thursday afternoon with Gary boating a nice 36 incher. There was some sucker action on the weekend, but it was pretty sporadic.
Gary and I stayed up and fished Sunday afternoon and Monday and Tuesday with very little action. Gary boated a nice 40 incher on Sunday afternoon on a Big Game twitch bait on that “Secret” lake Greg. Overall, it was a tough bite; hopefully the rest of your fall season will be successful. Thanks again to all who attended and to North Twin Lodge (Marti and Jenn) for their hospitality and the raffle prize of a two night stay. Please send your fish pics and any other pics you took during the outing to Alain. Mark your calendars for the spring MM52, Saturday May 31st and Sunday June 1st.
