Musky Mania 47, October 2011
Tournament Winners
|
What a beautiful weekend for MM47, a bit breezy on Saturday, but temps were very mild and enjoyable. Fish catching was a bit slow with warm water temps and some lakes having some heavy algae blooms, but the important thing was Mr. Musky did not win.
A total of 4 fish were caught, two each on Saturday and Sunday. The winning fish was caught by Corey Earl, a 44 ½ incher on his new Deathtrap Lake Raper lure which will be available this spring according to Corey. The second place fish was boated by Gary Borkowski with a 40 incher caught on a sucker, third place fish was caught by John Reynders with a 34 ½ incher, and the fourth fish boated was by Tom Mijal with a 22 incher. Several other fish were caught prior to the weekend with a beautiful 47 incher caught on a sucker by Musky Pete on Friday. Congratulations to all who caught fish. We had a great Friday night cookout and lunch on Saturday with some great raffle and door prizes, thanks again to all of our sponsors. As usual, Marti and Jen were great hosts, thanks again to North Twin Lodge for the great accommodations and hospitality. |
As we approach MM50, we are planning for some special things; some being a commemorative lure, a shirt, a commemorative rod, and potentially other items or activities. MM50 will be our spring outing in 2013. We have also had some discussion about the continuation of Musky Mania beyond MM50 with the request of anyone interested in leading the coordination to let us know.
We have also discussed the options of simplifying things with just having the Friday night cookout and eliminating the Saturday noon lunch and prizes as it is getting more difficult each year to obtain free or support prizes. We will look for folks input more specifically at the MM48 spring outing. Good luck to all chasing muskies this fall and looking forward to MM48.
