Musky Mania 64, May 2020
Musky Mania 64 is in the books and it turned out to be a great outing. Twenty-one folks participated with a total of 9 fish caught, including the 1st ever 50+" fish caught in 33 years of Musky Mania. Water temperatures were in the high 50’s-low 60’s on most lakes with the fish done with spawning activities and ready to eat.

Saturday dawned cool with a good breeze but very fishable waters. Most folks fished South Twin to kick off Musky Mania 64 which proved to be a good bet as 8 of the 9 fish caught in MM64 came from South Twin with the only exception being Bill Reshel’ s monster 16” off Kentuck on Sunday morning.
By noon on Saturday there were three fish on the board so folks had their task cut out for them. After a nice lunch put on by Matt Rieter as winner of Musky Mania 63, everyone was eager to get out to hunt down that winning fish. Everyone enjoyed the raffle and door prize drawings getting their new hot baits to head out and fish with for the rest of MM64.
Winds blew all day Saturday so bigger water became a challenge in the afternoon but South Twin was manageable by the fish that were caught in the afternoon. As waters warmed, Bob Deboer and his partner, Scott Williams, put the first ever 50+” plus musky on the board for a Musky Mania outing, trolling a super shad. Scott had just seen a large fish on his side scan and GPS marked it when his board took a dive and the fight was on. Congratulations to Bob for such a once in a lifetime fish. Others had other action on South Twin in the afternoon/evening keeping fisherpersons on their toes hoping for a fish to hit.
Most teams had a great first day and after a few adult beverages on Saturday evening were ready to get back to fishing on Sunday. Some folks tried other lakes with not much action. Musky Pete and his partner Bill Reshel teamed up to boat a 16” elusive musky from Kentuck lake which proved to be the only fish caught on waters other than the Twins.
MM65 is tentatively planned for October 10th & 11th. The lodge will get back to Musky Pete on finalization of the fall date so watch your e-mails for updates. Thanks to those to participated as we look forward to Musky Mania 65.
